Suburb Status: Petrie Terrace was established as a suburb between 1860 and 1900. In 1975 a proposal was put to residents to change the name ‘Petrie Terrace’ as a suburb. Public objections to change the name led to the decision to retain its name, however change from the status of a suburb and was deemed a locality and was included with central Brisbane. In June 2010, Petrie Terrace was again officially recorded as a suburb.
