Brisbane City Council is currently investigating improvements to the existing Residential Parking Permits process as recommended by the Brisbane Parking Taskforce in December 2014.

Residential parking permits are required for anyone who lives and parks in a residential parking permit or traffic area. Eligible residents can apply to Council for a residential parking permit,visitor permits and short term permits. Residential parking permits do not guarantee on street parking.

A service fee is applicable for residential parking permits. You can find out more about the fees and how to pay for your parking permit.

The fee will be waived for new residential parking permit applications received from new residents to a traffic area; those residents who require additional vehicle permits; and those moving within current traffic areas. The permit/s will remain valid until Tuesday 30 June 2015. Council will contact the applicants in May 2015 to advise of the full details of the improved renewal process and invite existing residential permit holders to renew their permits.
